Fulfiling the Dream

Barack Obama has some serious expectations riding on him tonight. Whatever he says will instantly be compared to that speech given 45 years ago to the day, to fairly significant critical acclaim. As if that wasn't enough, it'll also be compared to one of the great modern political speeches: his own at the same Democratic conference four years ago. No matter what he says, it'd be difficult to get anything like the reviews from the instant analysis at the time, or pull off the element of surprise that had people listening gape-mouthed.

But watch those clips, and tell me he's not the man for the job.

And for my American friends, I add this. Do watch to the end, even if you're not a fan of the music.

i don't know whether this speech needed to be AS good as the one four years ago (although it obviously HAD to be good). but he seems to have already captured the american people's attention, and shown what he is made of - i don't know when was the last time i have seen so many people inspired (85,000 at the stadium and apparently JM's campaign is struggling to gather 10,000).

but how to target those americans who have been homeschooled and still think he is related to osama? i doubt they were even watching.

how should they do this? tell me magnus??????

to be more elaborate - i don't think i explained myself properly.

not every speech can go down in history.

and the details of different policies may not be as inspiring as a dream about coexisting in harmony. but very important in this kind of speech.
